Quandary of emotions...

Image result for bush fires australia

The awful situation in Australia prompted me to collect all my chums over there for a message of whatever support I could muster.

David Duff has a post here and the responses show such resolve, I can only commend the great spirit shown by all these good people.

It's a mixed day really. The despondence of such a calamity 'Down Under', compared with the total joy of reading all the positive comments on Guido's latest post about Boris's Brexit Bill,      Here - Woo-Hoo! leaves Scrobs somewhat bewildered, but at least the next few days will see some sort of recognition that even when we are getting the Scotch bottles polished, the turkey stuffed (through its beak - 36 hour job that), and the rest; well, life just goes on...

And 'My Dave' is arriving at eight o'clock this morning to fix the kitchen taps, hence the early-morning post!

It is only necessary to read a few descriptions of the fires to understand how scary they are. As for the possibility of being trapped - horrific.

I've had three of the five messages answered, and all seems well, except for the smoke in Wagga Wagga!

It musr be so frightening to see flames on the horizon...

Same here, Thud! I've emailed you!

Magic Grandpa looks happy doesn't he! For someone who's never had a real job, it's understandable that he's not sure what to do next!

It's bad enough being flooded but usually people can rescue some of their belongings and get their house dried out. In Australia those who chose to stay have little chance if the wind unexpectedly turned direction and comes roaring towards their home. It's also the terrible damage that's been done to the animals (oh, that little koala a lady rescued that had a lot of burns) and the eco-system which will take many years to recover if at all. How those firemen managed to do their jobs and coped with those high temperatures as well I just can't imagine. Every damned one of them should get a medal as far as I'm concerned.
Thud, thank goodness we've had a bit of political peace over Xmas which has allowed various intakes of breath in order to provide our brains with much-needed energy for the forthcoming and interesting months ahead. We also have new MPs to take on board so let's see what stuff they're made of. If I never have to hear Corbine and Dabalot again it will be too soon.

Well said, GG!

Some of the pics in the rags are just heartbreaking, and to lose one's home like that just doesn't bear thinking about.

Thankfully, the few chums I have down-under are safe, but there's smoke everywhere now!
