Absolutely stunning - what a Gal...

Ever since Scrobs and his dear sister used to play the piano with both feet on the pedals to make an odd sound (the organ, we called it), the sight of an expert in full flow is still such an exquisite pleasure, and this fits the bill because I just love all the chord sequences, the passion and also, the chat and the smiles half-way through!

Sophie is just an amzing perfectionist! Volume up high everyone, it's a real treat!

Just listened to this and doesn't it make the hairs on your arms stand up! In my late teens and later on I played the piano and got to Grade 7 and loved doing the Beethoven's Moonlight and Pathetique sonatas. When I visited my childhood friend for a chat or whatever, a friend of my dad lived next door and he used to let me have a go on his organ (don't say another word) and although all the keys were in the right places as per, there were these little pull-out jobbies with funny names that fascinated me. I'd play hymns from a book he had, but then to play Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor was something else! To have heard it in some sort of amphitheatre like a big hall or church would have just blown my mind! Some of the usual wedding entrances or exits could never sound the same on the piano. Whilst walking around Marlowe on my 70th birthday and chatting to a local who was on her lunch break, she said to go into a small church nearby, so we did only to find an organist re-tuning their organ. What a lovely chat we had, but the glorious sound that echoed from every beamed ceiling, wall and floor just made your head ring with such joy!

When I've looked at some of Scrob's recent blogs I saw that the previous comments I saw have since disappeared.

How do I communicate with you?

On the need to know factor: I need the name
1/ of the occasional Hydeneye House lecturer on physics, chemistry.
2/the name of the physics one who did physics, television & computers & whose mother was John Baird's landlady in Hastings

Looking at that - they were probably the same person & maybe switched with astronomy -- I do remember his name...

and thanks for the handwriting story, which I do remember -- one correction: alas, I do not remember being much good at sports.
Happiness. Tim Satchell

Tim! Dammit Man, it's so good to hear from you! I found a news cutting I'd kept recently, where you bemoaned the late payment of fees, and the cost of getting a result, and I hope that a) you got your money, and b) you're maintaining your profile as well as you can!

My email address is 2ndmktx(aaattt)gmail(dottt)com.

As far as the name of the science master is concerned, was it P.O.P (Partridge? We did have an astronomy lecture once from Patrick Moore, in that awful old gym!

Baird of course, was the real man behind television, and is celebrated as such when you approach Hastings! I'll ask Paddy Langdon about the names, he may know!

Have you seen the HHS website? It should give you a clue as to who writes it, and some recent posts from Trainin have restarted my thoughts of scanning about three hundred pages of the magazine...

And so on to 'My Fair Adman'... That was absolutely brilliant, with Black ii wearing some sort of cap to start it all off!

Please get in touch old chap, I'll send you a scan of your piece in my autograph book, when I can find it!
