Gosh! That takes a chap back a bit (haven't heard that for years) specifically to a nightclub in Tahiti filled with dusky maidens and fire-walkers. But that was in a previous incarnation....

However, despite all the hooha yesterday - and the blessing of the complete absence of any pontificating gurning politicians (except BJ who had a perfect right to be in the parade), I think Jack Teagarden, one of my all time favourite musicians got it right with this .

Enjoy your day off at the allotment.

Marvellous track that, the back rhythm just throbs doesn't it!

Too wet for plot work unfotunately Reevers, but in other news, I managed to start to net up the carrots...;0)

If you want a laugh today, read this report!

From a quick whizz around, it seems that the general opinion of the papers and the blogosphere is that Sky/CNN were much better than the Beeb. We got a bit fed up with the BBC constantly cutting away from the proceedings to interview their furiously enthusiastic colleagues dotted around the place about what a fab time they were all having in the rain. In the end we switched to the much better coverage from CNN - even though Jon Mann (one of their foremost - and entertaining - political presenters) told us that we were now going across to speak to one of his colleagues waiting on "Picadilly Street". He did pick up the very strong hint in the piece that the 'Street' was superfluous. Bit like the BBC crossing to Peston on Broadway Road in New York.

Oh yes Reevers, the Beeb were lamentable, and although we quite like some of the presenters, they were really out of their depth on this ocasion.

This was supposed to be a semi-serious event, but the Beeb still dumb down and down and down...
