Down on The Farm...

Posting has been sparse recently, because there's so much to do down on 'The Patch', and also round the village, where a newly retired Scrobs is required to do this and that!

So here's a pic of 'The Patch', to show that at least the spades, forks and tillers have been doing their jobs, aided and abetted by Mrs Scroblene, who is a dab hand at couch-removal, and also catching a chum's stray chickens (not ours), and inserting them back through the hole in their netting...

Life is just too good...

I like pulling up couch, especially in good friable soil where you can pull up yards of the stuff in one go.

I reckon I could grow the grass between it no problem...

The couch in a bed just off the left-hand of the pic was the worst we've ever seen, Mr H!

Great handfuls were all wound up in the blackcurrants, ans we spent a couple of hours, just hoiking it all out!

I never did dig that bed as we wanted to keep the old bushes, which are astounding in their crop each year - now they can see the sky!

T'will be, Thud!

I just wandered down today, to talk to the spuds, and found two were already up and peering over their mound...

That grass paths are because we really can't consume enough from a whole eight rod patch, so we just make a lot of single beds, all around 8' x 4', and grow what we like in rotation!

This year, we'll have 105 tomato plants, some at home and the rest down there...
