Good luck to them anyway; some of them are worth £100 million, so it'll make a nice change to hear them instead of the mindless dross like rap, grunge etc', which is so crap!
As someone said on the wireless this morning, he'd never ever bought an Abba record, but knew all the songs! Amen to that, and we didn't mind a bit either

OOOOOOOOOOOOOH Abba! I saw the Eurovision contest when they won - ace! I always wanted to look like the blonde one but never had the bum for it! Their music is so unique in both its composition and the way they used the words; almost like someone having a conversation. Personally, I'd rather leave it as it is (i.e. if it works don't mess with it) because I believe they're using holograms instead of actually performing themselves. Give me a CD anytime and let me wander around in nostalgia. rvi - that is not a nose-bleed by the way!!! That's called epistaxis which if I remember rightly, was a very good mode of travel in the 80's as long as you didn't fiddle with his radio and re-tune it to Radio 4.

Talking of ABBA, I too was a fan back in the day but I confess to never buying any of their records/discs/tapes, but I was given a music book containing many of their songs which I used to play on my electric Yamaha while others had a singalong. It is still in my music book collection and does see the light of day from time to time. Now I suppose I shall have to get it out and start practising again!
Many a long year ago back when this group were all the rage, I was part of a 4-person pub quiz team. We were doing ok in general, but I think there were others ahead of us..... and then the MC announced that the next round would be questions about a dozen or so ABBA songs. We looked at each other - gloom and doom coming up; this was our Waterloo... Except one of the ladies on the team was really a secret ABBA expert, a fact of which none of us had known before. She had all their records and knew the lyrics off by heart to all of them!
The rest of us just sat back and had another beer while watching her sail through that round alone with 100% accuracy. I think that was why we actually ran out winners at the end of the night.

rvi - are you a cryptic crosser like me and which ones do you do? I print out the Graudian daily ones Mon to Fri, the prize on Saturday then the Everyman on Sunday. I keep going over them until Monday next when I look at the answers. my comments vary from "oh you do'nut" or "you should know by now how to spell that" to "am I looking at the right answers for that crossword"? I have a little and very basic Thesaurus to assist me and occasionally ask my OH but that's all. It doesn't half keep your brain active! Back to topic, I think I'd rather just keep playing my Abbalicious CDs because there's a whole lot of memories as to what and where we were, what we were doing and where we are now. Thank you Abba for your unique music and I wonder if the current youth will feel the same about their music in years to come? I have a nasty feeling it will be made by robots specifically programmed to communicate with each individual's brainwaves and it gives a whole new meaning to how earphones could be used. If our survival depends on them, personally I'd love to stick the live electrical connection up their backsides just to see what comes out of the other end. It probably won't make any difference because all we'll get is "LESSONS NEED TO BE LEARNT!" Hey - maybe it's already started? OMG!!!

Nope, not any more! Back in the day I used to (try to) do whichever ones I came across. My mum taught me to do crosswords when I was about 6, starting with the children's crossword in the then Evening Standard (I think it was). When I got my first job I had to commute daily into London. It was my job to buy the Evening News every evening (3d out of my pocket money!) on the way home, so to pass the time, I used to do that crossword every day, and usually finished it, before I reached my station.
I subsequently graduated to the Mail and/or Guardian as available - then I grew up and moved to the Times. An office colleague and I separately did their daily puzzle, and at lunch break, would swap info on ones we could not fathom, and between us we usually had it completed successfully most days. I particularly enjoyed their Jumbo puzzles eg at Christmas which used to keep me amused/flummoxed/frustrated for several hours.
Although I passed 'O' level Eng Lit I am terribly ignorant and ill-read at English literature and so was invariably stumped on clues relating to books, quotations, poems and other literature references. These days, living out in the back of beyond, the only crosswords I see are American - and I confess I have no idea how the clues match the answers, so I gave them up.
Many moons ago, our host engaged us with a tricky clue which I have sort of retained in my little brain. I know the answer as I was able to solve it after a bit of devious thought. So, on the premise that you may not have seen it before, I repeat it below for your delectation :-)
