Electronical unsodditment...

This week, the electricity company ravaged us...

Not in the biblical sense of course, but they caused severe things to happen, and where elctricity is concerned, these events always occur in threes.

1) Mrs S's computer decided to sigh and die last Saturday. It went with a little warning, i.e., strange shapes on the screen, grumbling from the disk, and eventual terminal sulk.

2) The electric kettle stopped (IN SYMPATHY NO DOUBT) on the second boil of the regimental two cups of tea before any communication with the outside world is achievable.

3) The old Hoover we keep in the shed to scoop up JRT's fur, crumbs, dirt and rubbish etc from the Punto Lagonda Supercharged Bastard suddenly decided to stop during a wild clean-up.

So, the Scrobs input into the sphlogobeer has been limited for the last few days, and I'm having much fun playing the new gadget, which has grown Windows 7, and also some interesting, but tedious new programmes.

And, all this happened just a few days after Lakes and his team solved a huge problem for Scrobs Inc!

There is life in the old dog yet...

What was the problem Lakes sorted out, Scrobs? Your roof didn't fall off or anything did it? Where I am I think the Big Bad Wolf is huffing and puffing at the pigs next door as the wind is howling.

Sorry you've had a bit of bad luck xx

I'll be straight over Elecs, just as soon as I find out how the speakers work...

Hi Pips, all I did was half-mention that as Lakes is a genius with computers (i.e.Photoshop etc), did he know any reason why my work computer was sulking with a particular problem!

Lakes is a kindly and knowledgeable soul, and just raised a magisterial finger and pointed me to the answer, which has worked perfectly!

Sorry to hear that you're being battered too; this wind and rain is getting the allotment clearance on a slow track, and I can't afford to waste any more time...

Scrobs: you are too generous!

I happen to work with one or two people who are the real deal when it comes to computers.

I like the photo. The number of times I've wanted to do just that to a computer....

Poor you! Perhaps that computer died laughing at some of the stuff that appears here.

Agree with you Windows 7 comes bundled (at least on my new computer) with all sorts of stuff I don't need, didn't ask for and will never open. I also think I still prefer XP, but maybe that's just me.

When I lived in Africa a millennium or two ago, for some reason my house was the subject of a weak power supply line. Never knew when it would blow a fuse and die. While the folks on either side were holding floodlit garden parties and playing loud music on their infernal machines I was sitting by my barbie (which was kept going almost round the clock) with a camping gas lamp and mosquitoes for company. Never wanted for hot water for a cuppa though I can tell you!

Hello Scrobs;...Long time no speaky..Sorry you're having 'lecy' probs..My PC is on the blink it keeps overheating and cutting out.
I'llget over to Lakes and seek his revered advice. As will have noticed I havn't blogged for yonks, I've managed to get myself embroilled in Facebook and Scrabble, which is quite adictive.
I will get back to writing one day...so watch out!

Lakes!

Howthedevilareyouyougman...

I suppose we all need to do this occasionally, and that is why there aren't any CRT mointors around any more...

Thanks again of course!

BTW, what did you actually say to Polly...?

Evening Reevers, it had Vista ploked on it, and I swore at the blasted screen most days because of that!

The new one has Gates-e-boy 7, and it's a grown-up version of XP as far as I can see, because if you think something should happen, it occasionally does for a change!

Like your description of the African situation, in fact, the mind boggles at all that beautiful wine being spilt when the lights went out...

Trubilicious, it's always great to hear from you, electricity problems or not!

In fact, if I stand outside, cup my ear, and pay attention, I can hear you singing in that lovely contralto voice of yours, possibly an aria, maybe a popular romp, but always an exquisite pleasure...!

I love a good excuse for a new gadget!

Fancy you knowing I have a contralto voice Scrobs....so perceptive of you!
Can you please let Phillipa know that I can't access her site due to mine crashing and losing all my data. Thanks ever so much.
Incidentally, I'm on Facebook are you?
Hope the roof on the Turrets are still intact...Much to DT's dismay, the roofing felt has blown off the shed, it really is frightengly windy here!

A smoking PC is probably the best excuse there is Blues!

Hi Di,

Stab in the dark re the voice, but just a little extrasensory perception does work wonders...!

I'll tell Pips of course about your MI5 files mysteriously going missing too!

The Turrets' roof is stil there thank goodness, but the shed roof blew off on Sunday...hmmm...
