Superb track describes desperate measures...

Calling elvis - is anybody home
calling elvis - I'm here all alone
did he leave the building
or can he come to the phone
calling elvis - I'm here all alone...

You couldn't really make it up could you, and it just had to be sung by 'Dire straits'!

Who on earth could think that bringing yet another poor copy of a long dead singer to the front of a 'campaign' to save the skin of a failed 'prime administrator' would make the slightest bit of difference?

This track is still a firm favourite from a few years ago, when I was given the album by a daught for my birthday...

My spies tell me that the ex-prime Administrator has booked a single room for the night of May 6 at the Heartbreak Hotel. Just a rumour, you understand

Yes - seeing Elvis following Gordon Brown round made me think about how Gordon could match his fellow Labour politicians to the hit.

Such as:

Hound Dog - Harriet Harman

Jailhouse Rock - Elliot Morley

Suspicious Minds - Peter Mandelson

I just can't help believing - David Milliband

A fool such as I - Alistair Darling

Always on my mind - Tony Blair

Way Down - Alistair Campbell

That's all right - Mick Martin

Doing the best I can - Alan "Thicko" Johnson

Trouble - Cherie Blair

Return to Sender - Jaqui Smith

I know, I changed channel and then left the room in embarassment.

Lakes 'always on my mind' made I laugh. Good list.

Ha ha ha Reevers, rumours are beginning to look a reality now, thank goodness!

Great list Lakes, the fool must really have been sold a pup when it was suggested to him that this would appeal!

Or perhaps it was his idea, as he never listens to anyone...!

Pips, he's dodging from 'safe house' to 'safe house' to avoid the inevitable bile from normal people.

I wonder how much you get paid to be a Nulab Drone these days!

Killers, as we now have an MP in T. Wells, and have been cast away by Maidstone, Mrs S and I were wondering why nobody actually asked us in the first place!

Mandelson does seem to be everywhere at the moment, trouble is, he's not seen there at all...

An Elvis tribute is what my father in law looks like - repleat with jet black quiff aged 70. Not a vote winner for me.
