Lots of mentions for good chums and family, comment on politicians' failure, more fun than seriousness and tinctures for all...

Rhythm stick...
Electric bass.
Veneers – old MFI chest circa 1969
Body – old kitchen worktop
Tail and cross bridge – piece of oak from Dad’s greenhouse
Strings – old redundant stock from brother-in-law’s shop in 1971
Original neck, held in place by pieces of beech from a 1920’s wardrobe.
Knobs – same beech wardrobe
And…
Electrical kit – from old left handed bass, found forgotten in younger Daught’s chum’s flat ten years ago.
Design and manufacture – Scroblene Enterprises Inc.
And I wish I could play it like Norman Watt-Roy, in Ian Dury’s ‘Hit me with your rhythm stick’. (Mrs S might also hit me with it if I leave it hanging around, cluttering up the place and gathering dust…)!
Wow ! When did you make this ?
ReplyDeleteMore piccies please !
I saw Norman Watt-Roy a year so back playing with Wilko Johnson. Very nice evening.
ReplyDeleteScrobs, you are Brian May and I claim my 5 sovs!
ReplyDeleteEK, I'll try...don't want to seem smug...
ReplyDeleteOG, The guy who founded Yo Sushi, Simon Woodroffe, managed to get the band together and play a song he'd written! It was a bit strange hearing his speech at a property breakfast, and then having all that blaring out - at 8.30 in the morning...
TT, Brian May is my age to the day! I actually got the inspiration for the bass from his webstuff! (5 sovs in un-drunk beers it is then...) Brian May is also one of the finest guitarists of my generation, and he is one of the few musicians that I can watch and listen to all day. Mark Knoffler is the other one.
TT
ReplyDeleteI lean more to B. B. King myself.
I saw Brian May in Florence a couple of years ago, a great showman. I think Eric Clapp is the more accomplished guitariste though. Not so much of the show with him of course.
ReplyDeleteFinest guitarist in the world for Tuscan Tony? Edward Lodewijk van Halen. Eddie ROCKS!
Dont get me wrong
ReplyDeleteI fucking hate musicians , but I know craftsmanship when I see it, nice piece of "craft" and art (+:
meanwhile cunts like emin and hirst make milions
A piece of beauty, maybe to be played by "heavy wood" bands.
