Shades of 'Zulu'...

This is just gorgeous!

The way the Welsh harp comes in, then the organ, is spine-tingling...

  1. It is interesting that this film shows an early cinematic example of honky taking the knee in front of the PoCs.
Search for "volley fire ,Zulu" on youtube.
More recently the bold Met Polis recreated this historic scene.
With front ranks recharging their iPhones while the rank behind took shots, selfies, with their charged devices.

  2. Ha ha ha, DH! Marvellous!

I do actually remember seeing that scene for the first time (I was a weakling CCF Cadet in the South Wales Borderers), and being absolutely riveted!

I don't respect the police much these days. I recently had a run-in with them about a chum who was assaulted while actually doing volunteer work for them, and they did fuck all for two days! I was furious, and threatened them with our local rag as well as the commissioner, and funnily enough, things started to turn around pretty damn swiftly soon after!

  4. Uplifting - a fine antidote to the dross to which we pay too much attention.

  5. It's lovely, isn't it Thud!

I reckon every red-blooded bloke thinks 'Zulu' is one of the best films ever made too!

    The 'redoubt' scene is terrifying!

  6. Uplifting is a good description, AK!

I know very little about 'modern' music these days, and still explore alternatives from the past!
