Senora O'Blene has been busy manufactruring these delicacies, and most have vanished already...
Back when her family ran a successful pub, at this time of year, Scotch eggs just flew off the shelves, and she and her mum spent most afternoons making a load more for the evening rush!
We're trying to remember how much they charged, but one thing is for certain, a lot of the profit from sweltering in the tiny galley kitchen for several hours, probably paid for their retirement house...
There's just one left, and there'll be a fight as to who gets it...
One of my favourites. They make a handy lunch when we are out walking too - less messy than sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteMrs O'Blene has won the battle for the last one, so I had to have a bacon sandwich - the second in two days, as somehow, I haven't had enough of the smoked delicacy for a while..;o)
ReplyDeleteI love them too. OH makes some very moreish ones using some good sausages, taking their skins off, adding any extra flavours he thinks necessary, then it's out to the hen house for some fresh hen eggs. Best bacon butties I had were when we did an indoor car boot sale. They had a little kitchen in there to keep us going. The rashers were put in a pan with some water to get the salt and preservatives out, then they went straight into the frying pan.
ReplyDeleteA true classic.
ReplyDeleteScrumptiliousness personified (and completely safe from our invaders too!)
ReplyDeleteAll gone now!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a new programme, but The Senora has to be in the right mood - story of my life :0)
