Morosity...

While considering whether to get up early, or not, Scrobs went back to sleep to encounter a long dream about an old chum and all sorts of recall became apparent while asleep.

The guy had served with distinction in The Falklands as a Naval Commander, and every detail about him was part of the dream, which was one of those which you can remember in full when you wake up.

And when I did wake up, I thought immediately about the chap, and how it would be nice to email him or contact him in some way...

That was until a few seconds later, when I remembered that he'd died a couple of years ago.

Hmmm - not a good way to start the day...

  1. NO Scrobs, not morosity and a bad way to start the day. Au contraire I think it is a great way to start a day recalling good memories of somebody you were obviously fond of.

I had a similar experience a while ago shortly after my favourite relative died unexpectedly, knocking us sideways and leaving a huge chasm in my (and my wife's) life. She came to me in a dream and I distinctly remember her placing her hand on my shoulder and kissing my cheek as she told me that she was "OK where she was and that we should now get on with our lives". That was very vivid and I recall it in minute detail. Even now hardly a day goes by that we do not think of her. So cheer up and be thankful that you had the pleasure of knowing your friend.

  2. Thanks, Reevers!

I often doze off again after waking early, and all sorts of weird and wonderful dreams happen, bu this one was just so real!

  3. Such dreams of those no longer with us can be either comforting or distressing either way what a way to start the day.

  4. Wasn't a happy start, Thud, but it got better during the day - thanks!

Funny how such feelings get so ingrained - perhaps I'm getting old...

    Or maybe not old enough!

    ;0)
