DRAMA...

  1. Seen it.

Very good. I would have been one to press the button.

In fact a few years ago a train appeared at our depot with a big red plunger by the driver's radio. No-one knew what it was or dare touch it ... except me !

One night (on shed turn - yuk!) I got bored and decided to hit it.

    PSCHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!

About a minute of this horrendous noise goes on.

It turns out that this button activated an emergency sanding device which had been put out on trial and left.

It had dumped about a bucket of sand on both tracks in front of my driving wheels.

A clean up operation followed by a long period of silence on my part.

  2. That was good. But what struck me was that, in the midst of all the noise, shooting and general chaos, I did not see one person diving for cover. They were all too intent on just standing by watching the proceedings. Human nature eh??

  4. I'd have wondered why you weren't told what it did Elecs...

    Isn't sand a good idea?

  5. Agree Reevers, and if you watch it several times, (like Mrs S and I did, glass in hand), you eventually understand that it could have to be a TV play or summat, and therefore, not too serious...

  6. Glad the Thudettes liked it Thudders!

We just loved it, rather like the big singing ones they did once...

  7. The unit was on loan to us. Sometimes the 'instructions' come after the stock arrives... and often after they've gone back too !

Left hand not communicating with right hand ...

  8. Sand is used for stopping/starting in leaf season.

The plunger was the 'one-shot' application on trial at the other company but left in.
