Lots of mentions for good chums and family, comment on politicians' failure, more fun than seriousness and tinctures for all...

Mornin'...
Here is a view which hasn't been seen from this point in 'The Turrets' for about 200 years.
Uninterrupted early morning sun!
There used to be two big old trees in the way, and one of them was struck by lightning a few years ago, (which frightened the s**t out of us, as we were just going out with JRT, and the air outside the door just exploded), and eventually succumbed to the saw, and the other one was given the chop a few weeks ago, because it had a terminal disease, and had been looking pretty sad for years.
So, we get the benefit of this great big ray coming at us this early in the morning (about 6.00am), and it'll get better of course!
Marvellous things chainsaws aren't they...
We've just had a huge cherry tree cut down in the back garden - I'm amazed how much bigger and brighter it's made the garden.
ReplyDeleteHello Scrobs, we've just cut a huge fig tree down and it is amazing too the amount of light that it's let in...shall miss the figs though!

They can get out of hand Lakes - as we found to our cost once!
ReplyDeleteWe had a flowering cherry which looked stunning when the blossom was out for those few days, but one year, just as it was dropping it's petals, and they were driving Mrs S mad, as I kept treading them about the house, there was a heavy rainstorm, at the same time as a strong wind.
The result?
We had a 3" pink concrete layer spread all over the garden, which took ages to clear!
Some say that that would be worthy of a page in Country Life, others would say - as we did - 'Ohhhhhhhh BUGGER'...
Hi Trubes, hope the world is treating you well!
ReplyDeleteAlways a shame to lose something useful and decortative like a fig tree, but there again, if you're stumbling about in the dark, it's a sure bet that you'll be wondering why you need all that Syrup in the first place...
;0)
Be careful taking pics straight into the sun, Scrobs xx Your garden always looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteTrubes I love figs too and have the recipe for fig wine somewhere. I joined a homemade wine circle over Easter :-) Now if I could just plant some blackthorn....
Of course Pips, I promise...(it was early morning...)!
ReplyDeleteIf you're into the home made stuff, I've got a super recipe for a light red wine from cider and elderberries, which we've used for years, and may well be resuscitated very soon if we don't get the next job we've been trailing!
If you want to see it, just let me know!
Scrobs, I'm a dedicated tree planterbut sometimes a tree has done its job and outlived its usefulness and then....timber!
ReplyDeleteOoh yes please, the welcome mat is out over at mine xx
ReplyDeleteLooks like you're going to enjoy the better view now. Gabz
ReplyDeleteYou're so kind Pips! Socks your cotton blessed heart etc etc... ;0)
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see this post, from a few months back?
I'll put up the wine recipe as soon as I can - probably as a post, because it'll take me ages to type it out...
May be able to scan it though...thinks...
You're right of course Thudders! There was another one right opposite us, which they started to crop a couple of weeks ago, and suddenly, it broke off at ground level with no warning, and caused the chaps to yell 'bugger'!
ReplyDeleteCould have been nasty...
...but it wasn't!
You're not THAT Gabriella are you Gabz...
ReplyDeleteOh dear...
Hey Scrobs, I've opened up my blog site again, do pop over and say hello, tell Philipa too!
ReplyDeleteDi.xx
Hiyaaaaah Trubes - and I'm glad you're posting again!
ReplyDeleteBe right over - I'll tell Pips too!
Lovely looking area.
ReplyDeleteYou used to drive through it all when you were with Eurostar Elecs.
ReplyDeleteJust think, you almost certainly saw me on many occasions, as I stood on Staplehurst station platform, marvelling at this shiny new train belting through at 75 mph, with a big guy at the wheel...;0)
