Don Partridge R.I.P...

Don Partridge made a huge difference to the pop scene in the 1960s.

'Rosie' was - and still is, a great song, and was sung by anyone who had a guitar as well as many who didn't!

This song was always in the Scrobs repertoire, and the only reason why I didn't do the kazoo bit at the end, was because a) I didn't have a kazoo, and b) If I had got one, it was impossible to keep it steady on my wire coat hanger harmonica holder...

'Bye Don, and many, many thanks...

  1. Life is not so rosy any more is it.

    RIP.

I also had a problem with those mouth organ holder whatsits. Every time I tried to reach for it, it just moved further away. V frustrating and one of the main reasons I gave up the harmonica and switched to keyboard..

  3. Quite so Reevers.

I can still remember the taste of metal coathanger as I tried to pull it towards me with my teeth...

Mrs S bought us all keyboard which we still have! In those days, the Yamaha PSR 36 was cutting edge, and we still clatter away on it!

  4. Lakes, he was a refreshing change from the new era just getting used to the Beatles and the Stones as regulars.

'Rosie' actually had a lot of style and 'difficult' chords for those days as well.

    Even my Dad liked it!
