These mornings, when it isn’t raining of course, I usually get the pupling out for an early walkabout, and we venture across the local fields for a stroll in the sunrise. (If it is raining we do the same, but I tend to groan a bit, and somehow the walks last that little bit less; like half…)
I sometimes take the old 'Box Brownie', and caught this pic, which sums it all up really.
If I had a blog, or knew how to use it, I would post a picture of the top of Iping Common this week, with the heather in full bloom and the Idle dog expecting to find grouse in it.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't and I can't, so just imagine it.
Great snap, scrpbs, you found some blue sky there, too.
ReplyDeleteidle, get down to Chi, buy yourself a phone with a camera, I'd kill for some pics of Iping, Stedham, Woolbeding, and the Good Food Company of course!
Idle get blogging its very simple , any number of us would be delighted to help you "get it up"
ReplyDeleteSome of the things that I miss about not having a dog are , being forced to go for a brisk morning(and evening walk) and of course the opportunities to lurk about taking candid snaps with the perfect cover story , oh and finding a dead body , I never did In my walking days it was always "The victim was discovered by a man walking his dog" somehow I felt let down by my dog.
I love the tracks in the dew...one straight wide line (Scroblene) and a chaotic squiggle (Jack Russell Scroblene)
ReplyDeleteA tranquil photo there Scroblene, I enjoy morning walks with my pooch Maisy the Pug. We are surrounded by mountain views, it's amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou just can’t beat it!
Oh; what a pleasure reading all this as I get back from the smoke! (slightly pissed actually...)
ReplyDeleteIdle - bloody well get organised !(see Hitch later). We can all help, I'm older than you and have a Duke of Edinburgh's Badge for bravery in the face of a dark wood...
Tuscan; thanks, it was my David Bailey moment, and there won't be another for some time I suspect...the blue is a rarity at the moment...
Hitch; you are an ispiration to new bloggers (Idle, sodding well take note...), and without you, Scroblene Turrets would never have been aired on the great white web... You are saluted Old Chap!
Lilith - what can I say! You are the epitome of good taste, and you recognised the simplicity (stupidity) of the picture, while understanding why we were there in the first place! Why don't you just come down here, sit with us for ages and be yourself...Red/white on us!
I'll listen! Mrs S may not however...Bugger!
Herc; let's have those mountain views - they will be paradise for all of us in danger of floods, etc...
Phew, all these words and still can't see straight...
Tuscan, now that you have discovered my identity, I suppose I have nothing to lose by sending you some shots of the Rother Valley by email. Unless you tell me otherwise they'll land in you tuscan red contact email from your website.
ReplyDeleteAs for blogging, my life is about to change and I will be drinking less and working more, curses. So I expect you and the other usual suspects to continue posting things worth commenting on. When my new employers realise they have made a desperate mistake and pay me to go away and not come back, I may toy with the idea.
It looks quite dark to me... I don't have a camera either right now - not even a phone one...
ReplyDeleteI used to have a dog.
ReplyDeleteOh memories :-) ... some of my happiest. Such simple companionship.
Miss you Barney xx
Idle - para 1, good news, para 2, join the club. Pesky dark forces are throwing money at me to drag me kicking and screaming into the wold of work. I have resisted so far but Mrs Tuscan has applied pressure, the sort of pressure that only ladies can apply, you understand.
ReplyDeleteOh Bollocks!
ReplyDeleteNow I'm running a 'Client Reappraisal Situation Seminar'!
Idle, you need (have certainly got)some good mates to get you introduced to what you want to do. (BTW, which Rother Valley do you mean - is it the Northiam one?). What's up old chum? Tell Old Scrobs...?
Tony, FFS don't alter what you've already got - it's paradise as far as I can see!
I have to admit to spending a huge lunchtime with a dear friend, and we had one or three...! It has since appeared that he has more 'problems' than I expected to hear about, so life changes every blasted second these days!
Mrs S is now deep into a Harry Potter book, and I'm wondering if I can stay awake for the rest of the evenin................
Scrobbers, this Rother rises at Selbourne and also Buriton, south of Petersfield, runs west/east along the 272 and joins the Arun at Pulborough.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I can spend my evening commute creating blog posts on a laptop. The Tuscan will remember fondly the very train line that I will be using.
Idle; Still here...
ReplyDeleteSelborne is a favourite district of mine, and I had some serious work there for 'The Lord', on his estate (Blackmore)in 1974!
No wonder you and Tuscan fantasise about the area - it's fabulous!
That A272 is such a great route, I'll always treasure the towns and villages it passes through.
Somewhere near Selborne, there is an old disused railway, and my Dad would always point out the places where it was easily visible from the road.
Whenever I go that way now, I try to relive those magic days in his old Vauxhall Victor, and me sitting in the front seat, with nose glued to the swept-back windscreen.
You're testing me Idle...
Hurts?
Scroblene, we had a clapped out Zodiac when I was a kid...fabulous car.
ReplyDeleteWe think we have found the dog. Going to visit puppies tomorrow!
Lilith, You're still here; I'm nearly out on the moor with Pupling, but hopes for all the things you want tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteBeware, their paws will wrap you.
Take care!
Sleep well!
D-S!
Awwww, you are a sweet man aren't you...walking your dog and all! Great picture!

ReplyDelete07.05 Waterloo Express from Haslemere, 2nd carriage from the back to ensure seating (being a 2nd class citizen). Return on 17.52 non express, Mrs Tuscan collected me in the nice, shiny and clean (i.e. pre-kids) range rover. Fond mwemories. Never again, though!
ReplyDeleteMwemories, Tuscan, that's all that is left of that idyllic commute...are the olives fermenting?
ReplyDeleteLooks like we share similar tastes in music.
ReplyDeleteI saw Genesis recently and, last night, saw The Australian Pink Floyd Show play in Southport.
I'm not really into tribute bands, but these guys have been together for 20 odd years and do a great set, with the first half of the show a straight run through of Dark Side of the Moon.
Their light and laser show is well worth seeing - especially as they were playing outdoors.
Lakelander!
ReplyDeleteWelcome!
Tribute bands can do a good job, when they are the same age...
'Dark Side of the moon' really needs listening to when you have been in Fino's for three hours, and want to find a corner seat on the train!
I'm off to get it onto my Ipod!
Keep in touch will you, we have a great enclave here, and everyone likes everyone else - at the moment that is, and while I'm on the second bottle, I probably love everyone!
